Development and Delivery Processes

Years of experience working on all types of software development projects has taught us a thing or two about the best way of working on such projects.

We feel it isn't just about a group of skilled people working away at their disciplines, but just as improtant is to have a set of processes to effectively supprt these endeavours.

There are so many things, small or large that can affect the outcome of a project, and we have a series of papers advising on how best to manage different aspects of the development, testing and implementation phases of projects.

These papers are available only on request. The list of papers is:

  • Source Code Versioning
  • Managing development and test databases - ensuring development starts on an as live databases, managing project releases to test databases (full and incfremental)
  • Managing static/lookup/configuration data
  • Test data creation - sampling data from production back to test and development databases (being mindful of Data Protection Act)
  • Logging and debugging - methods to use in development, test and production
